It's a supernatural tale with horrific elements and a distant cousin to The X-Files given its FBI-located protagonists, and while conspiracy theories are its subject matter, it's more of an examination of our ability to manifest our own realities. Tynion's work, if anything, is as much if not more autobiographical and personal than it is escapist fantasy. Featuring one of the series' most mysterious and unassumingly sinister figures, the Jackie Onassis-like WOMAN IN RED, cover artist and comics sensation PEACH MOMOKO's RETAILER EXCLUSIVE VARIANT portrays the character far differently than she appears anywhere else. Momoko's signature pastel colors and Impressionistic style result in a unique presentation that sets itself apart from the dark greys, red and blacks that serve as the chosen color palette for the series and which dominate most of the plethora of covers created for the any issue of the series. The Woman, of course, with her signature dark sunglasses and slightly voyeuristic placement amid the mottled foliage leaves just a hint that perhaps something may be awry, but that is where Momoko leaves it, and the resulting contrast with Simmonds interiors is an experience not lost on the reader. It's also our favorite of the bunch, and it's offered here in exceptional very High-Grade. Give your collection what it deserves...
