Rare Pre-Code Horror Comic: The Beyond. LOT OF 1 VINTAGE COMIC BOOK: BEYOND #9 From The Start Of 1952, Boasting A Colorful Masquerade Party Cover By Ken Rice, With A Sexy Young Redhead In A Ballerina Costume Greeting An Unexpected Visitor, A REAL Vampire That Did Not Dress Up In A Costume. This Great Vampire Cover Is Perfect To Promote The Included Story, "The Vampire Of The Opera", Which Appears To Be The Work Of The Underrated Lou Cameron. The Lead Story, By The Masterful Ken Rice, Is "Horror Blown In Glass", About An Evil Hand-Blown Satyr That Evokes Devilish Results, Leading To A Gruesome Death Boiling Alive In Liquid Glass.

The Other Grisly Lurid Tales Include "The Other Side Of Death's Door" By The Respected Jim McLaughlin, And "Face In The Mirror" And More. S Complete, Intact, Flat, Tight, And Brilliant, An Attractive Example With Bone-White Paper And Nice Eye-Appeal. These Ace Horror Comics Must Have Had Small Print-Runs Back Seven Decades Ago, As They Don't Show Up In Many Golden-Age Collections.

The Beyond Is An Increasingly-Popular Long-Running Fifties Horror Title Filled With The Work Of Highly-Collected Artists, Including In This Particular Issue Art By The Great Cover Artist Ken Rice, Along With The Highly-Skilled Lou Cameron. It Came Out During The Original Horror Craze So It Has The Ubiquitous Salacious Content Including Gore, Occult, Devils, Ghosts, Vampires, Undead Ghouls, Black Magic, Good Girl Art And Explicit Violence. This elusive issue is flat, bold and glossy; Please view all of our photos, this looks sharp, although somebody wrote "#9" in the logo area. There are general surface creases and some bends and dings, but it remains bright and clean and lustrous. There is a split at the top inch of the spine, and it seems as if somebody put some discreet glue on the inside of the comic to the spine region, as when the cover is opened it does not readily open all the way to the staples.

I do not see any adhesive, however the way the comic opens strongly suggests somebody thought the factory staples were not going to keep the cover in place so they reinforced the attachment? Most folks are happy to find a ratty reader copy, so this pretty copy is likely to be an upgrade for many horror fans or collectors of American pop culture from the middle of the twentieth century. MATERIAL LIKE THIS SPOTLIGHTING ICONIC THEMES OF FILM, PULP FICTION, CINEMA AND LITERATURE NEVER LOSES APPEAL. Please inspect the images as you get the exact copy shown.
